Ah yes, we’ve been waiting for you! The snow is melting, the trees are starting to bud, and the first hint of flowers are starting to peek through the recently frozen earth. My favorite time of year!
Technically, the March equinox is Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 12:15 P.M. EDT.
Astronomically speaking, the equinox falls on March 19 or 20 every year, marking spring’s beginning in the Northern Hemisphere (whereas it announces fall’s arrival in the Southern Hemisphere). The equinox happens at the same moment worldwide, even if our clock times reflect a different time zone.
Meteorologically speaking, in the Northern Hemisphere, the official spring season always begins on March 1 and continues through May 31.
All that info is interesting, but to me, the important thing is that Spring is the beginning of new life everywhere we look! Time to start our gardening and enjoy watching the fruits of our labor start to blossom and bloom!
